How to create MataMask Wallet?

Whether you just want to keep your crypto asset in one place or you are a developer who is working with EVM-related chains, MetaMask is one of the most famous and easy-to-set-up and use crypto wallet. In this article, I am going to explain step by step how you can create your MetaMask wallet.

As MetaMask can be simply integrated as a browser extension you don’t have to download or install any desktop software. In this blog, I am going to use google chrome but all these steps are similar for every browser.

Step 1:

First, you have to install the MetaMask extension in your browser. For Chrome users, you can simply head over to this link. And if you are using any other browser you can go to this link and select your browser.

After going to your selected link you will see this page:

Here you just have to click Add to Chrome or a similar button and in a few seconds, MetaMask will be installed in your browser.

Step 2:

Now most probably the browser will automatically redirect you to the Home page of MetaMask but if not then on the top right corner of your browser, you can see the MetaMask icon or a puzzle icon where you will see the MetaMask icon. Upon clicking that icon you will be redirected to the home page of MetaMask which will look like this:

Step 3:

In step number 3 you will click on get started. After clicking that the website will take you to the Data Protection Policy page. Read it carefully and click on “I agree”.

After this you will see the following page:

Here assuming that you previously don’t have a wallet, you have to click “Create a wallet”.

Step 4:

After that you will be asked to set a password to your wallet, as you can see following:

You have to put at least 8 characters and try to make it hard because it will hold your real crypto asset. After that click on “Create”.

Step 5:

This is the most important step. The next page that you will be redirected to will be Secure your wallet page. I will recommend you to watch the provided video on that page to understand what is a “Secret Recovery Phrase”. Also, read the stuff that is written on the right side of the page to get a better understanding. After watching the video click on “Next”.

The next page will be your secret phrase page which will look like this:

This is the most important thing in your wallet creation. It will be used to recover your wallet if in case you change your PC or want to use MetaMask on some other device. Now click on “CLICK HERE TO REVEAL SECRET WORDS”. Also as you can see on the right side in “Screenshot 5”, you can see a blue-colored text. Click on it to download the phrase as a text file (MUST). After that click on “Next”.

WARNING: Never disclose your Secret Recovery Phrase. Anyone with this phrase can take your Ether forever.

Step 6:

Now on the next page, you will be asked to select the 12-word phrase in the precise order that you have downloaded before. Open the text file and select the world in the right order.

If you selected the phrase in the correct order you will see the “Confirm” button turning blue and clickable. Click it and secure your 12-phrase security key which only you can access if required.
